NOTES ON CONTRIBUTORS
| As the editor and founder of the inventive magazine The Duplex Planet , David
Greenberger has achieved artistic heights to which The Canopic Jar can only aspire. Started in 1979 as an outlet for
the expressiveness of the elderly residents of a nursing home, The Duplex
Planet has evolved into an expanse of creative ventures that include stage shows, radio programs, comic books,
various spoken word and music CDs, and a website-just to name a few. And the magazine, currently based in Saratoga Springs, NY,
remains at the heart of the enterprise. A visit to The Duplex Planet
website will entertain and enlighten-as well as introduce the visitor to the creative world of David Greenberger.
(The "Visitor Center" alone is worth the trip, although its contents will likely inspire a longer visit.)
Mary Sue Koeppel is the celebrated editor of Kalliope,
one of the most distinguished and venerated women's literary journals in the United States (and, for that matter, beyond ...). A resident of Jacksonville, Fla., Mary Sue Koeppel is truly a maestro of the poetic. Her most recent book is In The
Library of Silences: Poems of Loss, published by Rhiannon Press and currently available through The Canopic Bookstore. |

| Charles E. Rice, a native of Rossville, Georgia, sold his first
article to an ecclesatical journal in 1955. Since that time he
has had dozens of articles, essays , and reviews published-some
specifically related to his being an ordained Episcopal priest,
others clearly in response to his personal muse, and all
demonstrating his gift for the written word. A collection of
autobiographical essays and other writings, The View from
My Ridge, is slated for publication in the Fall of 2002.
To be placed on the mailing list for news regarding the book or
to reserve a copy in advance, contact Canopic Publishing. |

| Chicago-bred, Nashville-based writer Doug
Hoekstra has published over a dozen short stories and is now building an impressive list of publication credits for his
self-styled "non-fictions." Already well-known as a superb genre-defying songsmith, he has released five
critically-acclaimed CDs at last count, and as a live performer he is seemingly ubiquitous (he recently returned from a tour of
the United Kingdom). For more information on Doug's music and writing, visit www.doughoekstra.com or
check out his CDs at Amazon.com. |

| The whereabouts of reclusive poet P. A. Merrill
remain unconfirmed but he is presumed to be living in or near the
area of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. Merrill is a co-founder of
Canopic Jar and left "Stuck In The Script" unguarded in
the vaults. His apparent inability to navigate the internet
circumvents his disputing the poem's authorship or preventing its
publication. |

| Leslie Phillips is a freelance writer and photographer from
Appalachia who currently lives on an imaginary sailboat moored
just off of Key West, Fla. |

| Phil Rice lives on Doctor's Lake, an inlet of the St. Johns
River, in Orange Park, Fla., where he writes many words of little consequence. He is the curator of The Canopic Jar, hence
the inclusion of his poems in this issue. |
